The Storm
On the evening of June 12th, 2025, a severe thunderstorm tracked east across the Denver metro, with the worst hail concentrated in a corridor running from Centennial through southeast Aurora. Hailstones up to 2.25 inches were reported in our customer's zip code by the National Weather Service.

The Inspection
We had a Force 5 inspector on-site by noon the next day. The damage was extensive:
- Bruised and fractured shingles across all roof slopes
- Significant granule loss in gutters and downspouts
- Dented metal vents, drip edge, and gutters
- Damaged ridge cap shingles
- Hail strikes on garage door and aluminum window screens
- Soft hail bruises confirming functional damage on a roof in otherwise good shape
The roof was 9 years old — relatively young — but the storm was severe enough that full replacement was justified. We documented everything with timestamped photos and a written damage report.
The Insurance Process
The homeowner called their insurance carrier the same afternoon. An adjuster was scheduled for the following week. Force 5 had one of our claims specialists at the inspection alongside the homeowner.
The initial scope of loss from the adjuster came in approved for full replacement — but it was missing several items we knew the homeowner was entitled to:
- Code upgrade items (ice & water shield to current code)
- Detach & reset of solar panel array
- Replacement of damaged ridge vents
- Drip edge replacement (full perimeter)
We submitted a supplement with photo documentation for each item. The carrier approved every supplemental item within 6 business days.
The Installation
Installation took 1.5 days. Our crew arrived at 7am on day one, fully tore off the old roof, replaced two pieces of damaged decking, installed ice & water shield, synthetic underlayment, drip edge, GAF Timberline HDZ ArmorShield II Class 4 shingles, new ridge vents, and detail flashing.

Final cleanup included a complete magnetic nail sweep of the entire yard and driveway, plus a full walkthrough with the homeowner. We handed over warranty documentation and final invoicing the same afternoon.
The Outcome
Total project cost: $18,420. Insurance carrier paid: $17,420. Homeowner out-of-pocket: $1,000 (their deductible).
The homeowner now has a Class 4 impact-resistant roof — which earned them a 22% reduction on their homeowner's insurance premium going forward. Over the 25-year expected life of the roof, that premium discount alone will exceed their original deductible cost many times over.
I was dreading the insurance process — I'd heard horror stories. Force 5 handled everything. The adjuster came, we walked the roof together, supplements were approved, and the new roof was installed a few weeks later. The crew was professional and left my yard cleaner than before.— Aurora, CO homeowner
